Listen: Seth Troxler does the Essential Mix

In anticipation of another sleep-defying Northern summer, Seth Troxler has stepped up for the first Essential Mix of the month. The Detroit star recorded his two-hour session live in one take (in the London living room of Jamie Jones, no less), eschewing the aid of Ableton to smooth out any rough edges.

“I like the feeling of a live mix and think that to do one on the radio makes it a lot more fun and spontaneous,” Troxler writes. “All DJs make mistakes and I think these add character to a mix and show that the records aren’t being played by a robot.”

The Essential Mix is still streaming at the Radio 1 website, so you can wrap your ears around it right here.
