Hot Chip deliver BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

It’s been a good few weeks for BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes. Towards the end of last month, Nicolas Jaar delivered his contribution to Pete Tong’s prestigious weekly show and yesterday, Brits Hot Chip did one of their own. However, it’s not the first time they’ve mixed for Pete Tong – the group delivered their first Essential Mix way back in December 2007.

It’s an upbeat mix spanning funk, disco, soul and more, with inclusions from Marvin Gaye, Prince and Wiley as well as offerings from Hot Chip’s new album, In Our Heads. You can stream the 120-minute mix at the BBC Radio 1 site for the next 5 days.

In other Hot Chip news, the group recently covered Prince’s If I Was Your Girlfriend for Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show, which you can hear at about the 1:19:50 mark over here.
