Individually two of the globe’s biggest record labels, the merger of Sony and BMG has now been officially completed, with the creation of Sony BMG Music Entertainment recently announced on the 1st of August.

With an impressive back catalogue, including Miles Davis, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Lou Reed, and more, the label’s headquarters will be based in New York. The ownership of Sony BMG Music Entertainment is shared equally between Bertelsmann Music Group and Sony Corporation of America, and now accounts for approximately 25% of the entire market.
