In a heated competition held at Zouk KL on 20 Dec 2004, six DJs across the Asian region battled for the crown to be named Heineken’s Asia Found@Thirst Championships.
Claiming the throne as Asia’s best was the duo from Thailand, DJ Oatawa and DJ Kolor, who will proceed to Ibiza for a month next year to spin with veteran British DJ Pete Tong, as well as move on to lucrative projects and spin at other dance hot spots.
The duo who won the showdown unanimously were voted by DJs Pete Tong, Miss Motif, Danielle Davoli and Phil K, as well as via SMS voting by dance aficianados. Hosting one of the later sets, DJ Duo hypnotised the crowd with upbeat and progressive tunes through cutting edge mixes of the latest dance tunes.
Andrew Padula, who represented Australia in the final, was unfortunate to have landed the first set of the night, which may have cost him the title as Zouk KL did not see a big dance crowd so early in the evening. Touted as the ‘most promising DJ’ by Pete Tong, Padula spun a thumping set that caused dance aficionados who arrived early craving for more.
