Following on from a hugely successful 2005 which saw MN2S release the Jon Cutler and Hardsoul-mixed ‘Ten Years of Our House’ compilation, the burgeoning London-based label and management agency is set to continue its assault on global house circles in 2006 with the launch of its innovative compilation series, Masterclass.
The series will be released in April following its high-profile launch in March at London’s End Club as part of MN2S’s 11th Birthday celebrations.
Mixing and compiling volume 1 is veteran DJ and producer Mousse T who says, “I love the fact that with Masterclass you can show the variety and background of all your records, you can show your roots and stuff, you can show where you’re coming from,” he says.
“I kinda like that, to show what I’m about, what the DJ is about. We know we love house music but that is not the whole story. When I started DJing 17 years ago, we used to play everything. We used to play rock, R&B, soul, funk, whatever; it was really fun.”
The series will capture the spirit of the two very different sides to a night out and bring them together as one, while also showcasing the two sides to each featured artist. From the relatively confined parameters of a club set to the autonomy and freedom of an afterparty, each Masterclass release will give the featured artist the opportunity to experiment, to surprise and, above all, to entertain with a diverse and eclectic mix aimed at the heart and mind as much as it is at the hips.
The Masterclass series will feature some of the world’s most talented and in-demand DJs. Mousse T.’s effort on volume 1 will be followed up by that of Tony Humphries, CJ Mackintosh, Laurent Garnier and Derrick Carter.
Additionally, each ‘Masterclass’ release will be accompanied by an extensive ‘Masterclass’ international club tour which will, after multiple dates throughout Europe, will touch down in Australia for the first time late this year.
