You know how you’re not allowed to bring cameras let along video cameras into some gigs? Well forget that. Musical innovators, Coldcut are encouraging you to video tape them in the launch of an upcoming project called mycctv.
They are asking people attending Coldcut gigs on their forthcoming tour to bring along camera phones or DV camera and film anything at the gigs – the actual show, your friends at the gig, people dancing – anything interesting as long it relates to Coldcut or the show in some way.
Then, punters are encouraged to email the footage to mycctv@ninjatune.net. All footage (except for anything too rude or unrelated) will be uploaded and streamed at coldcut.net and once a week, the supplier of the best footage will receive prizes.
As well as this, next summer Coldcut will work through all the footage and cut together everything they like into a unique collaborative documentary of the tour which will appear on their “Sound Mirrors” DVD. There will be a swank hi-tech prize for everyone whose footage is included but just as important will be the chance to take part in a truly innovative international project led by a duo who have consistently pioneered new visual ideas within the realm of music.
So, what are you waiting for? Get filming!
