James Lavelle, one of the founders of the seminal label Mo Wax and core member of UNKLE, is preparing for a tour of Australia in February and March as part of Two Tribes and the Future Music Festival.

In a recent interview with ITM writer skip_intro he revealed exclusively that the highly anticipated new UNKLE album was not only close to completion, but was the best album he’d ever been part of making. “I can tell you it’s the best record I’ve ever made. It’s the most organic record too.”

Lavelle based himself in LA in order to achieve a “totally different headspace” and to work with long time Queens of the Stone Age producer, Chris Goss who Lavelle calls a “genius”.

Now back in London, Lavelle is hesitant to reveal too many details before the album is completed, “In many ways, it’s finished but in other ways it’s not – just because you go through moments of being indecisive and questioning yourself, having heard things thousands and thousands of times. I’m just taking my time.”

Stay tuned to ITM for updates.
