Primal Scream to release new album

Seminal outfit Primal Scream have revealed they will be releasing a new album in June, complemented by a UK tour. This will be their eight album and unlike their previous works which incorporated a distinct electronica aesthetic, this album will shift to a live rockier sound.

However the decision to tone down on the sonic experimentations and the noticeable absence of renowned producer and sometimes primal scream member Kevin Shields on this album has understandably fuelled rumours. Nonetheless frontman Bobby Gillespie assures there is no falling out and that Shields is simply busy working on Sofia Coppola’s next movie.

This follow up to ‘Evil Heat’ features collaborations with Alison Mosshart from The Kills, Will Sergeant and  Warren Ellis with Oasis producer Dave Sardy taking on mixing duties in Los Angeles

The forthcoming single will be titled ‘Country Girl’ and is due out at the end of May.
