Beastie Boys surprise SXSW crowds with an unannounced show

In what should be their golden years as they settle back at home with a warm cuppa recalling their (many) career achievements, telling the kids about ‘the good ol’ days’, the Beastie Boys still can’t seem to sit still and stay content. They’ve pulled another ace from their sleeves to shock fans around the world, as we realise that things in this camp are likely to be alive and thriving till the aging New York trio reach their dying breaths.

This time they took SXSW punters by surprise as they jumped onstage and played a heart-racing 1 hour surprise set at the Strubbs BBQ on Thursday March 16. Punters lucky enough to receive the tip-off in time were treated to a fine career-spanning collection, including ‘Brass Monkey’, party-favourite ‘Sure Shot’, ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’, ‘Intergalactic’ and ‘Ch-Check It Out’.
