That’s right the world’s most successful cartoon outfit, are planning to go out in a blaze of glory. The band’s leading light, Damon Albarn recently revealed that their plans for a world tour have been ‘put on the backburner’ for the time being, as he also winked at the idea of returning to the US to perform a string of shows in the glitzy and glamourous gambling capital, Las Vegas.
“There’s a possibility of doing these shows one more time, in Las Vegas. But we’re not sure when. I love the idea of Gorillaz on their third-ever [set of gigs] playing Vegas. And, of course, it’ll be big and all bells and whistles. And then that’s it” revealed Albarn in a recent interview with MTV.com “We’re putting Gorillaz back on the shelf after these last few gigs and working on other things for a while. It’s been brilliant, and this time it’s been a runaway success, so why not just leave it like that? So we’re retiring. We’ve been taking notes and we’re going to do it hip-hop style, like Jay Z.”
The band haven’t hinted at a specific shelf date for the project, but before they leave the blaze un-manned the animated outfit will be releasing a computer gams and Chinese opera titled ‘Monkey: Journey to The West’.
