While the future of Creamfields initially seemed uncertain after it was forced to move from its original home at the old Liverpool Airport site in Speke due to the amount of development work being carried out, any doubts can now be cast aside. The event has been granted a license from the Halton Borough Council and given the go ahead to land its festivities in Daresbury, Halton, Cheshire.
The world famous festival – which is expected to attract upwards of 45,000 – is expected to inject the Daresbury and surrounding areas with a massive tourism boost. Local hotels, transport and hospitality businesses are all expected to benefit from the move.
“We are naturally delighted that our licence application has been successful,” says Creamfields Chief Executive James Barton. “We were always confident in the strength of the application and we are now looking forward to putting on what will be a superb show. In addition, our team have unrivalled expertise and many years of experience in staging major outdoor events such as this and in ensuring the safety and well-being of all those attending, as well as those residents living nearby.”
Creamfields 2006 features The Prodigy, Goldfrapp, Gnarls Barkley and The Zutons amongst others.
