Obesity ages men by 10 years

A new study examining the links between obesity and testosterone has discovered that men who gained just 30 pounds (13.6kg) lost as much testosterone as if they’d aged 10 years, Reuters reported this week.

Scientists from the New England Research Institute tracked 1,667 men during their study and published their findings as Australian doctors warned that exploding obesity levels are creating an epidemic of teenager man-boobs, prompting increasing numbers of Australian boys to seek reduction surgery.

“We are getting a lot more requests for surgery for young people, and we are refusing to do it in some cases,” said Dr Rod Cooter, spokesman for the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons Adelaide.

“Some of the expectations are unrealistic, some think they can go out and eat whatever they like, and we’ll fix it,” he added (Adelaide Advertiser).

Skrufff contributor Dave Clarke admitted he’d had the odd problem with his weight in the past (‘I blame the photographer’) and warned that big breasts can easily pose problems in the booth.

“Man boobs on a DJ? It’s not a pretty sight,” said Dave, “They can bounce in such an unseemly manner, it could put you off your beats.”

Equally sylph-like DJ Larry Tee (‘I have never been fat, but I was plump when I first got clean from drugs’) was more sympathetic, though stressed he’d ‘never’ date a man with oversized breasts.

“I do, however, feel there is someone for everyone,” Larry added, “So if someone has man boobs, there is someone waiting for a handful somewhere.”

Both DJs stressed they’ll be eating in moderation over Christmas with Larry kicking sand around on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro inbetween DJing at Dama de Ferro.

“I try not to binge eat at Christmas though it tends to happen when I am with my biological family because there is never anything to do in Georgia but eat,” he explained.

“Everyone is fat down there, to the point that going there makes me feel thin and handsome,” he said.

“I have no plans to binge eat, in fact Christmas isn’t a big food fest for me,” Dave agreed, explaining he follows a rigorous regime involving both eating and exercise.

“I try and eat as healthily as possible when I’m on the road, a lot of fish and vegetables,” said Dave, “And of course any other carnal activity that presents itself to me in the right environment can be a bonus.”

“My special diet for staying slim is the ‘Fabulous food for fabulous people diet’, Larry concluded,

“I don’t eat anything but crackers and humus at home all the time and then when I go out I eat anything I want, which always includes desert. Then once a year I do ‘cleanse’ which is nothing but spicy lemonade for days. I would also say sex is a part of the diet, but who gets enough of that?”
