Following on from the release of their ‘Greatest Hits’ CD of 2005 (a sure fire sign that any artist is clutching at straws to get out of their major label contract), news has surfaced that The Prodigy have begun work on a brand new album, which is set to be released on their very own label.
Billboard.com revealed that the band, fronted by Liam Howlett, have set up the Ragged Flag label, which will release their own music and any subsequent signings. The label is backed by another UK independent, Cooking Vinyl, the label home of Billy Bragg and Echo & The Bunnymen.
Howlett remarked, “We have been planning this for a while and we are looking forward to building our label up, starting off with the release of the new Prodigy album. We have recorded a few songs already for this next album and they are sounding big and mean.” No date or title has been set for the album’s release.
