While the Dixie Chicks snapped up multiple Grammys – despite being barred by Country radio stations across the U.S for their candid anti-Bush views – and an impressive reunion by the Police had the audience and viewers across the world in awe, it was also an interesting but somewhat sober night for dance music at The 49th Grammys.

Madonna beat out Paul Oakenfold, Goldfrapp, Pet Shop Boys and Zero 7 in the best dance/electronic album category, for her disco hued ‘Confessions on The Dance Floor’ produced by Stuart Price AKA Jacques Lu Cont. Meanwhile Price himself, also claimed his stakes, winning the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for his epic reworking of Coldplay’s ‘Talk’. And in the Best Dance Recording category, the man who brought sexy back, Justin Timberlake was all smiles as he beat Depeche Mode, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys and Goldfrapp to the gong.

A night of political statements, plunging necklines and Police reunions. But one does have to query whether the electronic/dance genre is adequately represented at these awards shows when artists like Madonna and JT are the big dance winners? In any case congratulations to all the winners… especially monsieur Lu Cont.
