Following last year’s success, the UK leg of dance festival Creamfields have announced that there will be an increase in capacity for fans in 2007 – the festival growing by 10%!
After the resounding success of last year, and the positive impact to the towns in the surrounding area, the Regulatory Committee of Halton Borough Council granted a licence for this year’s Creamfields, allowing a capacity for 49,999 people; five thousand more than last year.
This year’s performers include The Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Kelis, Mark Ronson, LCD Soundsystem, Carl Cox, Erick Morillo, 2ManyDJs, Ferry Corsten, David Guetta and Eddie Halliwell, among others.
“The move to increase the capacity was necessary after a fantastic last few years for the event – this just goes to show that Creamfields has cemented its position at the centre of the UK’s burgeoning festival scene,” said James Barton, CEO of Creamfields.
The event helped to benefit local businesses financially last year. An independent report prepared by The Mersey Partnership For Tourism, Visit Chester and others, wrote that the total amount spent by visitors to Creamfields last year was £6.7million. £5.4 million of that was for Cheshire.
The event will be held on August 25, the Bank Holiday Weekend, in Cheshire from 3pm to 6am. Tickets range from £57.00 for standard or VIP/Hospitality Tickets for £100. The updated lineup can be viewed in the festival’s website, www.creamfieldsfestival.co.uk.
