Drum & bass icon Goldie is staging a high profile art exhibition entitled ‘Love Over Gold’ in London this September, featuring 27 pictures he’s created based on prostitutes’ calling cards displayed in phone booths in the West End.

According to the exhibition’s accompanying blurb, Goldie’s art presents ‘gloriously empowered images previously considered filthy, smutty and sinful’ and comes with a illuminating post-script talking of inner demons, sex and love.

“Life is not a witch hunt. Your sex life is not the witchhunt we have turned it into. Men are too busy burning witches: Women or the emasculated images and personas of their chosen enemies,” Goldie says.

“Free your inner slut. Free your effeminate side,” he continues, “Face your truth. Love your demons. Bring it to the light. Make it beautiful. Your aesthetic should give you a hard on. Mine gives me one,” he adds.

“Love Over Gold” opens at The Leonard Street Gallery, London on the 6th September 2007.
