Speaking with ITM ahead of his March tour, notorious cranky pants Sebastien Leger revealed he’s not all that taken with the “stupid, ugly” electro sound coming out of his home country.
Despite conceding Ed Banger and co. are healthy for the French scene, the DJ isn’t going to be hurrying to buy the new SebastiAn 12”.
“I hope it’s going to die really soon, this movement,” he sighed. “This nightmare. It’s like a disease spreading all over the world. I’m really dying from this music style – it’s terrible.
“I really hope for a comeback of something else, whatever, other than these stupid, ugly basslines and loud noise. Some crowds expect only this shit, so when I try to play something melodic, or minimal or techy, they so, ‘Nooo! This is not the bassline we expected!’”

Ha. Lol. I have an old set of his from planet radio, and the opening track is Sebastian Ross Ross Ross. If that is not French elector then i don’t know what is. Hy-po-crite. And thus we prove (once again) that Sebastien Leger is indeed, a huge douche.

hahaha if he thinks french electro is bad, i wonder what he thinks of the current teeny bopper fluro crap that we have to put up with in Melbourne, not to mention the gay vocals that are laced over sum previously good electro tracks, until ruined by Ministry Of Sound compilation series.... case in point that awful vocal version of dave spoon's at night is just one example of hundreds of songs ruined by those cheesy vocals. no thanks!!!

'timmyb', so he opened a mix with the french electro that he so distastes? so what. just because he doesn't like the sound as a whole doesnt mean that he cant like specific songs which break the stereotypical sound of french electro and are awesome to the ears...

respect!!! excessively noisy French indie electro pop is horrible. It just spams your ears with pain. That's not to say it's all bad, but most of it is craptastic.

"cheechvda" has it right. By pidgeon-holeing yourself into any catagory, be it the overly pretentious elctro hole or the "I hate electro" hole you limit your potential to experience the richness of the music. People do that so much these days, think about all the so called genres of house for instance... electro house, hard house, funky house, deep house, micro house (as distinct from minimal house), even fucking handbag house (yes, handbag house). Get over it! Australia has far to many musical borderlines as it is. If we ever want to be producing cutting edge music like America or Europe thats the first thing we have to deal with... oh after Aussie Hip-Hop of course... but thats another story entirely.
