In the grand tradition of pop artists turning to dance music for a killer hook, Janet Jackson has sampled Daft Punk’s Daftendirekt in her new single So Much Betta.
First the Grammys, now Janet Jackson – what American icon can’t Daft Punk reinvigorate?
The song is taken from the RnB veteran’s current album Discipline, which debuted at #1 in the US. At least she bothered to get an OK from the duo first. Last year, Black Eyed Peas man will.i.am sampled Daft Punk’s Around The World on the remix of his I Got It From My Mama. The only problem was, he didn’t ask for permission from the French robots until after he’d made the video. Not surprisingly, they said no. The film-clip lives on in YouTube notoriety though – watch it below!
Have a listen to So Much Betta here…and forgive the slightly disconcerting visual.
And here’s the denied will.i.am rip-off of Around The World.
