Chicago’s premier music event Lollapalooza is something of a big-name magnet – and 2008 will be no exception. The line-up has been leaked hours before its official announcement time, with more A-list acts than one timetable can accommodate.

Stretched across the weekend of Friday 1 to Sunday 3 August in Chicago’s Grant Park, the festival will be headlined by three acts with a shared disdain for The Man: Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against The Machine. On the hip hop and electronic front, it’s a very US-tailored bill including Kanye West, Gnarls Barkley, Lupe Fiasco, Mark Ronson, Spank Rock and, looking rather lonely near the bottom of the list, Booka Shade.

Feast your eyes over this ridiculously extensive roll-call. And imagine all the clashes…

They fit all that into 3 days? What are they playing 15 sets or something?

There are a lot of local acts as well thrown in the mix to fill out the 3 days. I was there for it last year and the clashes were very rare, everything is timetabled quite nicely and the main stages have a huge amount of space.
