Lee Osborne denied being involved in the drug related killing of 29-year-old Jon Bartlett, last week, as alleged gunman John Seton, 24, went on trial at the Old Bailey. The hotly tipped British hard house producer is accused of giving Seton a new phone, renting a transit van for him and harbouring him until he could flee to Holland where he was arrested last year and extradited to England.
Old Bailey prosecutor Victor Temple QC told the court Seton had confronted Mr Bartlett over a £24,000 drug debt and shot him dead in a quiet side street in Chislehurst, Kent. “It was an unequal confrontation which culminated in the two men arguing,” said prosecutor Victor Temple QC. “Mr Bartlett was unarmed, but by contrast Seton was in possession of a 12-bore shotgun. The argument ended in Seton firing two shots, one missed the other hit Mr Bartlett in the area of the left eye. Put shortly this was a cold-blooded murder which had all the indications of being planned in advance by Seton,” he claimed.
The killing happened just three months after Scandinavian website Trance.nu interviewed him about his rapidly developing career, describing him presciently as ‘a name you will no doubt be hearing a lot of in the coming year.’ Osborne spoke enthusiastically about the his collaborations with Tekelec Recordings’ Ali Wilson and upcoming tours of Brazil and Ibiza, which in the event were scuppered as he languished on remand in jail. “The label is taking up most of my time so as that’s what I really want to concentrate on – it’s looking bright and I’m very excited,” he added.
