Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has selected RAVE Act architect Joseph Biden as his running mate for this November’s elections, in an ominous development for US nightlife. Senator Biden became infamous amongst clubbers in 2002 when he attempted to criminalise glow sticks and bottled water and single-handedly manipulated the RAVE Act into law. “Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) forced the controversial legislation commonly known as the “RAVE” Act through both houses of Congress as an attachment to an unrelated child abduction bill,” civil liberties group the Drug Policy Alliance reported in 2004. “The “RAVE” Act gives the government even more power to harass and arrest innocent musicians, promoters, venue owners, and fans – all in the name of the War on Drugs,” the DPA added.
Obama explained his choice of Biden for Vice Presidential candidate on his website by saying the Senator brings ‘a direct approach to getting the job done’, a point rival Republicans are certain to exploit. However Fox News commentator Glenn Harlan Reynolds was not so supportive, ridiculing Biden’s anti-rave actions in 2002. “When he introduced the (RAVE) bill in June (2002), Sen. Joe Biden, D- Del., said “most raves are havens for illicit drugs,” and congressional findings submitted with the bill label as drug paraphernalia such rave mainstays as bottled water, “chill rooms” and glow sticks. My three-year-old nephew is fond of bottled water and glow sticks, and usually needs a “chill room.” Presumably Biden regards him as a dangerous criminal.”

another democrat who gets public displays of support from hollywood and celebrities choses a running mate who is set to destroy the very things that those celebrities also enjoy....reminds me of when tipper gore, al gore's wife tried to take on the entire entertainment industry in the early 90s in an insane crusade for censorship but then again its always the MO for liberal celebrities and the like to back democratic candidiates cos thats what everyone else is doing.
