Global trance titan Tiesto, who was recently voted as Australia’s favourite international DJ in the 2008 Sony inthemix50, has made an impassioned plea to his many fans worldwide. If you had plans to rock up to any of his ‘Elements of Life’ arena spectaculars with an arsenal of glow sticks ready to twirl, perhaps you should reconsider…
“I don’t like them. They bring the wrong vibe to the party,” Tiesto remarked in an interview with a US newspaper prior to his show at the Borgota Events Center in Atlantic City. “[There’s already] too much drugs. I drink a little bit, but the scene needs to clean up, so skip those damn glow sticks. They look horrible, and they’re too rave-y.”
Follow-up reports indicate security were out in force at the concert confiscating glow sticks from ravers caught unaware. Seriously.

Glow sticks I guess are a legacy from a more rave influenced scene.I must say I used to be a kandy raver and loved it,I think its a great expression of individuality and fun.I have pretty much grown out of it now.The scene is a little more clubber/music appreciater oriented which is good.But sometimes I miss the fluoro days!I must say tho that the performers at Inifinity last Sat were amazing.Glow poi,glow staff and glowing outfits and face paint.Its more an aesthetically pleasing thing than anything else.

I have to agree with Jo and Hanz.... Glow sticks signify a move in the dance music world, and create somewhat a form of unity amongst people at an event. If Tiesto claims to hate them so much, maybe he should listen to the majority of his fans who hate the fact he arrived late to his show and left straight after without even looking at anyone and smiling. Sorry Tiesto but glow sticks will always be around, love them or hate them.... their a part of the rave culture and if glow sticks were banned, you wouldn't have half the support at your concerts!

I'll agree that he is a successful DJ/Producer (Not my scene mind you), but you can't go around telling people how to enjoy your act. You can't say, 'Listen to it this way or not at all.' Some people like glow sticks. And some people will get over them in their own time. Some people will love them forever! You can get security to confiscate them, it's not like they are a risk factor (don't eat them)
