Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein are in a critical condition with extensive burns after a Learjet crash in South Carolina which killed four people. Barker and Goldstein had performed Friday night at Columbia’s 5 Points alongside Perry Farrell, the former Jane’s Addiction singer, as part of a free concert. Initial reports suggested that Farrell was also injured in the accident, but it now appears that he was not on the flight.
The private jet was scheduled to fly from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at around midnight, but shortly after takeoff witnesses saw ‘sparks coming from the runway’. The FAA has confirmed that two of the dead were crew members, and two were passengers. It appears that Barker and Goldstein are the only survivors of the accident.
Though he’s perhaps best known as Nicole Richie’s ex-fiancé, DJ AM is a former member of the rock band Crazy Town. He and Barker perform together under the name TRVSDJ-AM and were recently featured at the MTV Music Awards teaming up with Katy Perry, The Ting Tings and Lupe Fiasco to perform their own singles and MTV classics from the past 25 years.
