British doctors warned this week that ‘significant numbers’ of British clubbers are taking high strength MDMA by mistake, believing they are snorting other drugs including ketamine and coke. “We see a lot of patients who have taken white powder they think is cocaine but is clearly MDMA,” Dr Paul Dargan, of Guy’s and St Thomas’s poisons unit told a meeting of scientists considering reclassifying E from Class A to class B. “It is a clinically common issue.” (London Standard)
Leading ecstasy expert and panel member Professor Val Curran also spoke at the meeting and during the debate described numerous previous studies linking E with memory loss and depression as ‘meaningless’. “We have not found [one] person who was dependent on ecstasy,” the University College London Professor noted. “The people who used it were actually a bit less depressed. There’s no robust evidence of long-term effects. Further research is needed,” she added (BBC).
Both the BBC and Times noted the British government’s immediate refusal to consider reclassifying E ‘whatever the evidence’, reflecting their ongoing policy of rejecting all scientific advice about drugs they don’t agree with.

Considering the differences between the drugs and the effect on the body one would think you would know what you were partaking in. I mean for gods sake E and K? WTF. What I find amusing is the governments lack of understanding and ability to be divisive over reclassifying a drug where scientific research is indicative in nature. Imagine the taxes the government could reap and would reap of only they would declassify certain drugs. Ah one can only dream of such leaps and bounds in chemical and governmental tolerance

i new a dude that would buy like three tabs smash them all up and snort them. i mean massive rails of the stuff. it was pretty weird. i dont see how it would be any diffrent other than the fact it goes straight to your brain like anything else your snort.

i know people have done something similar one night. wrapped bombs thinking they had picked the right baggie and been dropping their coke all night and wondering why f-all was happening. came to do a line of what they thought was their coke and got a nasty surprise.

I've had friends go into a depressive state because of E, but it wasn't long term, just a 5 minute stint. And everyone I know who takes it isn't dependent on it either. In fact we all take care of each other and make sure (as much as we can) that nothing wrong will happen in the short and the long run.

Ummm, I've never snorted E, but I've seen so many people do it, I thought it was really common. It's true Governments are so quick to say something is wrong when alcohol is such a tax revenue raiser, and since ecstacy became popular in the early 1990's, what have people chosen to do instead of drink??
