Announced for the Big Day Out last month, and locked in for sideshows in Sydney and Brisbane – presented by inthemix! – earlier this week, The Prodigy have now unveiled details of their hotly anticipated new album Invaders Must Die, which is slated for release in Australia on February 28, 2009.
The album is the pioneering UK electronica outfits fifth studio LP, and will be their first on their new independent label Take Me To The Hospital. To date The Prodigy have sold in excess of 16 million albums throughout their extensive career, and their previous albums have spawned a litany of seminal and genre defining singles, including Outer Space, Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up.
Invaders Must Die is expected to be a welcome return to form for the trio, with Liam Howlett joined by longtime collaborators Keith Flint and Maxim for the first time since their 1997 album Fat Of The Land. True to form, however, it’s been confirmed that the album will feature several guest appearances, including Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and James Rushent of Does It Offend You, Yeah?
“Dave [Grohl] emailed me asking what I was up to, and asked if he could send some stuff,” Liam Howlett told NME recently, the end result being the track Run With Wolves, which Grohl drums on.

Despite the shitty sound and other dramas, they managed to rock out at Sydney's Two Tribes, but I'm so glad I went to their side gig at the Hordern as well, probably the best live electronica performance I've seen. Can't wait to hear their new tunes.
