Surely a case of the truth being stranger than fiction if ever we heard it, but it has emerged that US pop starlet Christina Aguilera is collaborating with a few rather notable dance/electronic artists on her next artist album, which she’s due to start work on in early 2009.

First up, there’s Adelaide born but UK based vocalist Sia Furler, who has worked with downbeat doyens Zero 7 regularly across her career before going solo in recent times. Also in X-Tina’s sights – Ladytron, with pitchfork.com reporting; “we’ve been able to confirm that the electro group has indeed been communicating with Aguilera about working together early next year.”

Last, but definitely not last, recent Parklife headliners Goldfrapp. There’s no firm confirmation on whether they will actually have any involvement with Aguilera, but as pitchfork so rightly pointed out; “Aguilera’s recent single Keeps Gettin’ Better is basically a ripoff of Goldfrapp’s 2005 hit Ooh La La,” so it should come as no surprise.

Aguilera is no stranger to credible studio hook-ups, having worked with DJ Premier of Gangstarr and Mark Ronson on her last album, 2006’s Back To Basics.

I'll never think of her the same after I heard her nipple ring got "ripped out" in a bizarre hair-drying incident *vomit*

A pop artist going electronic is surely not that big a news headline? She's hardly revolutionary. Madonna in particular reinvented herself by teaming up with William Orbit, and quite a few others since. This kind of thign happens so frequently it's hard not to see it as pop acts just cashing in on whatever's hot at the time.
