NIN 2009 shows will be last for a while

Now there’s even more reason to savour Nine Inch Nails’ visit to our shores for Soundwave 2009. In a self-proclaimed “Kanye West moment” on his blog, Trent Reznor has declared the band’s ‘Lights In The Sky’ North American tour “FOR SURE the best show of the year and any bullshit end-of-the-year poll you may read in the next few weeks that says otherwise simply has it wrong.”

However there’s a flipside to that enthusiasm. Later, Reznor adds, “The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future.” We know already that the “different personnel” includes a new drummer – 20-year-old Ilan Rubin. What he means by “a completely different approach”, though, is anyone’s guess.

Better get a good spot for Nine Inch Nail’s two-hour concert sets at Soundwave, ‘cause it might be our last chance for a while…
