As the dance scene’s largest online music store it comes as no surprise that Beatport command quite a lot of influence worldwide. It’s for this reason that their recent announcement of ‘ones to watch’ for 2009 has got quite a few people talking. Compiled by the website’s “team of label and genre experts”, it features artists from across the spectrum of dance genres, including trance, progressive, house, electro, techno, dubstep and more.

Any list that claims itself to be definitive is surely going to raise ire amongst some people – you’re going to agree with some of the inclusions and vehemently oppose others – but it’s certainly interesting food for thought, and also serves as a guide for tracking who is on track to do big things in 2009. Congrats must go out to Perth breakbeat producer Karl Sav and “stupid” Australian outfit Gamegirl/Gameboy for being the sole antipodeans to feature on the list!

I don't see where it said that these were only the new breed of producers - as made oibvious by cosmic gate in the trance and subfocus in the dnb. it just says ones to watch. That could mean that there may be new albums coming out or some releases on the

Congrats to the Aussies ... I'm surprised Jaytech and TyDi haven't gotten onto the list though. TyDi currently has 3 tracks in the Top 100 Trance list

mangina - think you've got the right idea goin on here. it doesn't say new artists to look out for. just ones to watch.

i think people here are missing the point. "ones to watch" implies those who are going to be leading the pack, not people who are new or "upcomers"
