According to the Upcoming Film Scores blog everyone’s favourite robotic house duo Daft Punk have signed up to write the film score for the sequel to Disney’s seminal 1982 movie classic Tron.
The movie, craftily titled Tron 2.0, is currently scheduled for a 2011 release, and is described as the “next chapter” in Tron (duh). It stars Olivia Wilde – the chick who had a lesbian fling with Misha Barton’s character in The OC – and will be directed by revered CGI expert Joseph Kosinski.
Of course this isn’t Daft Punk’s first foray into film. Thomas Bangalter was highly praised for his work on the French film Irreversible. They also produced their own avante garde film Electroma. However this will be their first full movie score.
