First up we had Etienne De Crecy and his revolutionary ‘cube’ live show, which made its triumphant debut in Australia at the Future Music Festival earlier this month, leaving a trail of gaping jaws in its wake across the country. Then we had US synth-rockers The Killers more or less appropriating the Frenchman’s stage show (without credit, mind you) at the recent MTV Europe Awards.
Now the ‘submersive audiovisual environment’ concept has been further tweaked by global clubbing brand Godskitchen, who took the wraps off their brand new ‘Boombox’ setup at a party in the Ukraine recently. “By wrapping the DJ up in a cocoon of light that syncs to the sound, the effect is akin to an all powerful god commanding you to worship him on a [sic] altar made of gold as he takes control of two of your most important senses,” espoused Beatportal.
Hype and hyperbole aside, there’s no denying the Godskitchen staging looks goddamn cool, and the DJ picked to man the controls at its first appearance was none other than world #1 Armin Van Buuren which would have no doubt made it a night to remember. You can see a video of the Boombox firing on all cylinders below.
