If you’re the type to live by the quasi-religious mantra ‘WWRD?’ (What Would Richie Do?) then this is an announcement that will no doubt get you a little hot under the collar. Yep, you can now also ask yourself ‘WWRW?’ (What Would Richie Wear?), with details emerging on the Canadian techno maven’s foray into the fashion world courtesy of a collaboration with Japanese designer Isolde Richly.
Named Richly.Hawtin – we giggled the first time we read it too… – the label was established last year and will be launched officially next week at an exclusive event in Berlin, naturally. Hawtin and Richly first met at Berlin’s Club d’Visionaire more than six years ago, and according to their website the range is inspired by their “shared love of Japanese culture and design.” ResidentAdvisor report that the launch will feature a limited run of 100 t-shirts, as well as a preview of upcoming designs.
Of course we’re all used to Richie pushing the envelope on music and technology, but he’s long had quite a unique take on style so it’s little surprise he’d decide to take a walk down the fashion path. If you like the idea of wearing clothes that find “harmony within the sensitive balance of strong line management and muted color arrangement,” this is the label for you.
