Masters of all things electronic and French, Air (that’s the pair of Nicolas Godin and JB Dunckel to their mums) are no strangers to the realm of film. Having collaborated with US legacy director Sofia Coppola on all three of the director’s films (_The Virgin Suicides_, Lost In Translation and Marie Antoinette), the duo have now hooked up with Chinese visual artist Yi Zhou for a short film.
The Frenchmen lend their exquisite sounds to Zhou’s piece – entitled Hear, Earth, Heart – with a tune called The Dream Of Yi, and the pairing of image and audio is pretty damn wonderful. View it over at the artist’s page.
According Pitchfork, the short film was recently screened in Switzerland, where it was projected onto a marble plate. Seems logical. We’re always watching movies in saucers, plates and the backs of spoons. Just for kicks, really.
Check out the clip below to see Air performing at the Sydney Opera House on their last Australian tour.
