It’s a mad, mad world out there, and here at ITM we don’t think that dance’s music’s finest are really helping the situation by trying to cash in on their success with horrible merchandise. We think it’s high time to expose some of dance music’s stupidest moves in trying to make a quick buck.
Yesterday afternoon we waxed lyrical about Busy P’s foray into the world of jewelry design (read about it here), as he and a few of his Ed Banger buddies had hooked up to produce a head-scratching new necklace. It got us thinking, why do our favourite musicians and artists so often do something like this? In most cases, attaching their names to some shoddy merchandise really seems to do more harm to their credibility than good to their wallet. Yet history is littered with artists who are guilty of embracing commercialism just a few steps further than they should have.
We’ve put together a brand new Snap! gallery in an attempt to shed some light (and some lols), on some of the more spectacularly bone-headed moves in merchandise that some (mostly) credible artists have been involved in. Enjoy.

>>why do our favourite musicians and artists so often do something like this? why??? why???? Becasue our favourite artists enjoy making music or art and most people don't give a fuk about supporting astists, art or paying for their favourite music - so in order to continue to make the music we all luv they have to compromise their integrity to make a living and we all suffer..

It's a lot harder to pirate merch. Stop illegally downloading music so that artists can make a living from it - then you might see less cheesy artist branded products.

God it's great to hear people talking about the "cost" of free music . You sell what you can when everyone feels it's ok to steal your art!
