Ahead of his ‘hosting’ stint at this year’s Parklife festival, ITM caught up with the one and only Busy P (aka Pedro Winter) to pick the Frenchman’s brains about his Ed Banger label, being a globe-trotting DJ and his upcoming Australian dates. As forthcoming with quotes and teasers as he always is, Busy P dished the dirt on where he wants Ed Banger to go next; rock.
“I would love to sign a rock band to Ed Banger,” Busy P explained with beaming enthusiasm. “I am not rushing it, however. I have time to make that happen, so I am not so much looking for a rock band, but waiting for that band to find me. I think that it could be really good.”
The news corresponds with a recent interview in which Winter revealed his desire to work with iconic producer, Rick Rubin. “It was amazing moment in my life to meet Rick Rubin, and we’re still in touch,” he told German outlet Mixery Raw Deluxe. “Since day one I have been saying that Rick Rubin is one of the people I would love to work with…things will happen.”
With a clear rock and metal influence present in many of the label’s releases, signing a rock band to Ed Banger does seem like a logical next step. We’re just excited to see how the French crew make flannel shirts and bandannas the most sought after fashion accessories.
Stay tuned for the full interview with Busy P soon, and check out our festival page for more Parklife juice!
