Having fallen by the wayside in 2001 after some less than stellar releases, iconic Manchester record label Deconstruction is set to relaunch in August.
Sony BMG is behind the reconstruction of Deconstruction, aiming to use the seminal label’s lengthy heritage – over the years the label was home to superstars such as Sasha, Deep Dish, Way Out West, K-Klass, Blackbox and even poppers like Kylie Minogue and M-People – and capitalize on the current trend of dance artists crossing over into mainstream popularity.
NME reports that the first release hitting the streets from the renewed Deconstruction will be a re-release of Sasha’s monster single, Xpander, complete with new remixes. Following that we’ll see Lionrock’s ’93 hit Packet Of Piece get the re-release treatment, before Deconstruction signs its first new artists later in 2009.
