Luciano debuts his ‘Ableton orchestra’ at Creamfields

In Australia late last year for a string of club dates, Chile-via-Switzerland native Luciano impressed all eager fans with his mastery of club dynamics. Now it seems as though Luciano is adding another feather to his already fulsome cap, that being his new role as the “conductor” of an “Ableton orchestra”. Okay then.

Revealed over the weekend as being a part of Luciano’s new Æther Live outfit, the project has been in development for over four years, finally set to make its debut at UK mega-festival Creamfields on August 29th. The setup will involve Luciano leading a group of musicians including Reboot, Mirko Loko, Gregory Poncet, LVD and Laurent, all from the Cadenza label, who’ll be playing specific instruments on their copies of Ableton Live, which will in turn be backed up by a live percussionist and corresponding visuals from the Microchunk team.

“It’s all about dance music and club music and the evolution of it! It’s very tribal and there’s a lot of space for jamming…There are musicians on stage and new sounds but it’s all about dance music,” Luciano explained of the project.

Whilst the concept of Luciano conducting his very own Ableton orchestra reads as a bit naff, we’ll admit we’re intrigued by the project. Four years in the making and with a pumped up technological element to it, it could very well be a mind blowing experience. And least of all, it gives us hope that one day we may just get our Garageband-enabled jazz troupe off the ground. Fingers crossed.

4 years in the making? i wonder how extensive it is... you'd think you could just midi sync 6 laptops each running ableton. hmmm

Sounds just like that Mark Ronson debacle at Global Gathering last year... what was that shit? Ronson and his trumpet blowing geese were pretty much booed off stage to make way for Sasha... and rightly so.

jarrardscott, yeah dude you're right Sasha was a bit of a let down. The whole Ronson thing was just a bit out of context for the day - not suggesting it was poor music as it was very creative - just didn't fit the mood/vibe. Who know with triple post lol

sounds interesting.. but i don't get what he'll be doing... i mean i know a conductor in an orchestra guides tempo/volume/tuning... but there's no point doing any of that with 5 midi synced laptops! so what he'll signaling Reboot to play faster and loude
