Daft Punk: the video game tribute

Having Daft Punk withdrawals? We get those pretty much every day. But despite some insistent ITMers speculating that the French twosome could be coming back for this year’s Nevereverland, there’s nothing that can really fill that hole that formed when Daft Punk packed up their pyramid back in 2007. Having said that, this chip tune tribute to Daft Punk that we stumbled upon earlier today does helps to ease our pain just that little bit.

Drawn together by French 8-Bit artist, Je deviens dj en 3 jours, Da Chip: The Music of Daft Punk Revisited on Vintage Game Systems is, much like its title implies, a look back at classic Daft Punk albums, but seen through the eyes of various 8-Bit and chip tune musicians, and we think it’s a whole lot of fun.

If you’re partial to the bleeps and bloops of classic Nintendo and SEGA games, then you’ll definitely dig the reworks on the compilation. Avoiding Daft Punk’s divisive Human After All the record offers up quirky Gameboy makeovers of Daft Punk hits including Aerodynamic, Around The World, One More Time, Revolution 909 and Short Circuit. Whilst we would’ve loved to see a glitchy take on Digital Love, the compilation is pretty much perfect as is.

They’re literally giving the Da Chip compilation away, so head over here and get your mitts on it!

Short Circuit playing now - definately quality, and suits the track anyhow. Annabelle (The Sheep) gives it two hooves up!
