Crookers line up Spank Rock, Kelis, Major Lazer, everyone else for debut album

Italian dance floor slayers, Crookers, have been killing it lately. In between their club smash with Kid Cudi, Day N Nite, going crazy in the clubs and on the charts, rocking last year’s Stereosonic festival, and remixing pretty much everyone – Moby, Edu K, U2 and Britney Spears too -, the fidgety duo of DJ Bot and DJ Phra have someone found the time to record their debut album and pack it out with an avalanche of big name guests.

According to Data Transmission, the duo’s upcoming artist album will feature a collaboration on almost every track, with guest spots lined up from the likes of foul mouthed rappers Spank Rock, Australian summer visitors Major Lazer, Radioclit, Rye Rye, Kelis, former Moloko enchantress Roisin Murphy, Pit Bull, Tim Burgess and even seminal UK new wavers, Madness.

Judging from that eclectic list, it would seem as the pair’s years of hard work has paid off, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what their album produces.

That said, the duo told Data Transmission that we shouldn’t count our chickens before they hatch. “It’s probably not what you’d expect, it won’t be a collection of dancefloor bangers!” explained Bot.

They’ve definitely got us excited. Hook, line and sinker.

Yeah I even heard from some huge Crookers fans that their Stereosonic set was a massive load of turd. They killed it two weeks in a row at Prince last year though.

thats because a crookers dj set = 2 hours of only their own productions/remixes haha its a bit of a joke i reckon. im a fan of their stuff, but its all the same

Seen crookers in a tiny venue at Lot 33 in the capital and my god they know how to party and smash the dance floor for hours on end... dont know how they would go at a festival though, their songs r big sounds like that of deadmau5 or Stanton warriors

"seminal UK new wavers, Madness" who wrote this or copied it from the PR? Madness were ska, last time i checked.

Ska, two-tone, new wave. Same umbrella.

i pondered for minutes whether to reply... but i can't let it go. how are jamaican music from the 50s and simon le bon under the same umbrella? try playing duran duran at a ska night like 'take it or leave it' and see how it goes down.

Obs late on this, but if we're being pedantic I'd draw a distinction between new wave and new romantic.

these kids really went pretty stale since the start of the year. and i don't even care that their sound was samey....it was a good sound. But their new productions have been quite boring of late....shame.
