You may remember back in June when we reported that the new dance-hall craze of ‘daggering’ – a dance style characterized by some startlingly aggressive dry humping – had led to a spate of broken dicks in its birthplace of Jamaica. And if you don’t remember that then clearly you’re missing out! Well, we hoped and prayed that that would be the last we’d see of the bizarre dance craze on ITM, but the Major Lazer boys themselves, Diplo and Switch, have brought daggering back to the forefront with the clip for latest single Pon De Floor.
The new video for Pon De Floor which you can see below finds a cast of die-hard dagger-ers going wild to Major Lazer’s epic booty shaker in some whacked out animated house that could be from The Sims.
Indeed, the clip seems to take daggering to a level we’ve not yet seen from previous curious YouTube searches with the video’s dancers engaging in all sorts of bizarre, insane and ‘WTF?’ maneuvers including ones that we’ve now nicknamed ‘Booty Airlines’, ‘The Boner Breaker’ and ‘Operation Dumbo Drop’. We should probably get practicing on these for the Major Lazer festival shows this summer.
It’s disturbing, strangely mesmerizing and probably not safe for work. So get watching!

I actually kind of agree with the sentiments about the quality of the track. The IDEA of Major Lazer is fun and out there, I get what Diplo and Switch are trying to do but amongst the imagery I think they might have actually forgotten to put some actual effort into the sound. "Hold The Line" is far better than this, but even that is a series of strange samples over a fairly tame drum/synth composition. I was hoping they'd follow up with something perhaps more focused and well put together. This...while quirky and maybe appropriate for Major Lazer, perhaps isn't so great. And the video is ridiculous, not even funny in a strange way.
