Forget the headlines. This story isn’t about a new album, or an upcoming collaboration between superstar artists, or Deadmau5’s latest attention grabbing stunt. This story is just about something undeniably cool.

During the recent 5 Days Off Festival in Amsterdam, the Kindred Spirits Ensemble threw down a few orchestral reworks of some seminal techno and house tracks and the one that grabbed our attention was their pretty much amazing take on Derrick May’s pioneering Rhythm Is Rhythm single, Strings Of Life.

Check out the clip embedded below for 10 minutes of exquisitely rendered sophisticated dance music, guaranteed to please.

I must say I am a bit underwhelmed. I was expecting an epic, huge sounding orchestral version and it comes off more as a jazz fusion mix with a hefty string backing section. Still good, but eh. You juiced me up and left me dry!
