Little Boots issues public apology for DJing Robert Miles' 'Children'

When it comes to representing all that is cool and uber-hip, you’d think that in vogue UK electro-popper Little Boots would have things pretty down pat. After all, she’s been named in the top 10 of NME’s Future 50 list and is jetting out to Australia next month for a slot on the super cool Parklife festival. Yet by her own admission, Little Boots (aka Victoria Hesketh) isn’t the bastion of good taste that she’s been made out to be, apologizing recently for ending a recent Bugged Out DJ set with Robert Miles’ iconic ‘90s dream-house single, Children.

First coming to our attention via a story in the UK’s Timeout magazine, Little Boots spoke out with a red face about the Bugged Out incident, saying that the Robert Miles faux pas was the result of both her boyfriend egging her on and her being drizz-unk (our words, not hers). Compelled to apologise for the DJ gaff, ‘Boots took to her blog and let loose.

“Public apology to anyone who came to my DJ set at Bugged Out, I was slightly under the influence of jet lag and field day pina coladas and somehow got convinced by my other half to end my set with Children by Robert Miles. I understand this is completely unacceptable, even in a post nu rave post ironic post post shoreditch post modern sense, and realised once I’d press play whilst Erol Alkan looked on in horror that this was neither big nor clever. It won’t happen again.”

From reading this, two things have become clear. Firstly, when you book a Little Boots DJ set you get the girl herself and some kind of behind the scenes Euro-cheese Svengali who’ll probably suggest mixing Cotton Eyed Joe into Waters Of Nazareth and secondly that the Robert Miles single clearly has not aged well. Whilst it definitely holds a place in our hearts as a euphoric club staple, upon digging it up again we’re pretty sure we’d be a little grossed out if someone dropped it during an electro set.

Check out the classic Children in the clip below and get ready to shout out requests for the tune when Little Boots hits Parklife!

Aw. What? Children is a classic. I think it still holds up. Better than some of the retro crap i hear people mixing into sets at some clubs i've been to recently. I'm talking about late 70's early 80's bad pop songs. Songs that weren't even good at the ti
