Gigolo Records chief DJ Hell is to release ultra-long track The DJ as the second single from his critically acclaimed recent album Teufelswerk, bringing Bad Boy rap mogul Diddy back into the clubland limelight.
The US hip hop star delivers a hilarious comic rap over the track, screaming ‘’this goes out to all the mother fuckers that like 15-20 minute versions of a mother fucking record…[you] can’t get even get into your thing with a four minute version.”
While having Diddy call out for a return to more epic-tinged records may seem like an odd move – this is the guy who sampled Led Zeppelin for that Godzilla movie – it’s not as odd as one might think. After all, Diddy has strong dance leanings that he’s explored with the likes of Felix Da Housecat, Stuart Price and previously with DJ Hell.
“[Diddy] knows about techno music,” Hell says of his high-rolling collaborator. “When he was a kid he was going to the Sound Factory to see Junior Vasquez.”
And hey, it doesn’t seem as oddball as Tiesto working with crunk forefathers Three 6 Mafia, does it?
The DJ is set to drop as a single on September 28th complete with an epic 28 minute remix from Radio Slave on the back and you can check it out in the (definitely NSFW) clip below. Just after the single lands on vinyl shelves everywhere, DJ Hell will touch down in Australia for a hotly-anticipated tour, check the dates below.
DJ Hell’s “A night of International Deejay Gigolos” national tour:
Friday Oct 16 – Prince Bandroom, Melbourne
Saturday Oct 17 – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Saturday Oct 24 – Villa, Perth
