Lily Allen has committed herself to an infinite run of ‘greatest hits’ tours a little earlier than most, with the announcement that she’s done with making records.
In a blog post that has the likes of MTV trumpeting ‘Lily Allen Quits!’, the 24-year-old singer writes: “Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause). I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.”
Just last week ITM reported on Allen’s outburst against file sharing, suggesting that high-selling bands like Radiohead could afford to be apathetic to the issue whilst emerging artists suffered and spiralled into debt. Her blog would suggest the argument still stands.
“The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I’m concerned,” she continue, “so I don’t (at this point) stand to profit from legislation. Except future purchases of previously recorded material (which wont be much).”
So we can lock her in for Big Day Out 2011 and 2012, right?
