Despite ruling the roost as one of the most successful dance producers in the game, Dutch trance powerhouse Tiesto has flexed his creative muscles this year, branching out beyond his conventional scene to hook up some particularly curveball collaborations with everyone from local commercial poppers Sneaky Sound System, to indie rockers like Bloc Party and Metric, to hip hop acts like Dizzee Rascal and Three 6 Mafia. It would seem as though Tiesto isn’t stopping there, lining up some more eclectic collaborations, and next on his list is none other than cosmic-rockers Muse.
Speaking to ITM this morning for a one-on-one chat for the release of his new Kaleidoscope LP, Tiesto divulged details about the collaboration, revealing that he’s been itching to work with the UK trio.
“I want to work with people that inspire creativity in me and Muse are a very interesting band,” he said. “I just met them this week in New York and I really can’t wait to work with them.”
After dropping such a bombshell ITM couldn’t let the Dutch producer leave it at that, and pressed Tiesto for details on what he and Muse would uniting to work on.
“Well we’re going to start with a remix. I’ll remix the next single off of their new album,” he explained. “After that, I don’t know, I’d really love to do something else with them in the future.”
Whilst only in a nascent stage, the fruits of this new collaboration could be revealed sooner than you’d think, as both parties will be in Australia come late January 2010, with Tiesto playing his epic Kaleidoscope World Tour and Muse hitting the country to headline Big Day Out. Oh the possibilities!
Stay tuned for ITM’s full interview with Tiesto coming soon, in the meantime though, check out the full dates for the Australian leg of the Kaleidoscope tour below.

Hmmm... While I'm not that excited about a tiesto muse remix, I am a little bit excited about an original song. I was really hoping for more maps of the problematic style stuff on the new muse album, and was summarily disappointed. This could be good? Of course it's more likely to be throwaway pop trance rubbish, but a person can dream.

The biggest twat in trance, and the biggest twats in rock...One can only imagine the histrionics they are going to produce together

It is a INSULT to call this guy a trance dj. He simply isn't anymore. Just listen to "Kaleidoscope". He is no longer trance. He is not no.1 in the trance scene anymore...hasn't been for a long time for that matter. Got booed off stage in spain recently, for playing a set of nothing but electro remix rubbish. SELLOUT

Just like Tiesto is over Trance..... Get over Tiesto.... And Im not a lover or hater of Tiesto just like going out getting pissed and listening to music... In my opinion - Tiesto has moved from Cheese AKA Trance.... To cheesier but a mainstream cheesy
Gymqueen22 says...
I still waiting for the collaboration of Tiesto and Lady Gaga, it just may become a reality... LOL
Mikey-mike says...
Tiesto and lady GAGA would be awsome.... Theres a reason why lady GAGA tops the Charts just one of the best of the best atm... Whats the point of being a musician if your not topping charts?
dj joey says...
is there anybody these days that Tiesto doesnt work with?..who next? John Farnham??
StiC MaN says...
to mikey mike: ummm.............'cause music aint all about topping the charts? a lot of musicians maybe make music for the love it? tell me how is trance cheese? exactly how much trance have you listened and who have u listened to? and dont give me this "i've listened to enough to know", you're not gonna get much of a taste by listening to basshunter. i'm actually more concerned about muse going all electro than tiesto going collaboration crazy. i guess a remix of one of their tracks would be alright, if its good. im not way too concered about what tiesto's new album is like. i'm more concerned about the type of sets he plays these days. i've always backed tiesto from critics, but im getting concerned that the critics maybe right...
Mikey-mike says...
- Any musician dreams about selling records..And if no ones listening to your music why make it? and if your a DJ ur not a musician your a Disk Jokey - What Trance Fans are saying about electro etc. is what the Techno crowed was saying about Trance 15 years ago... The only good kind of Trance is Psy.. Even thats getting crap now. - I have listend to Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, Oakenfold, Van Dyk, Miles, Ottavanti, Schules and the list goes on and on.. Not to mention i have been to Gods, Two Tribes & Kryal. - Who the hell is basshunter?
scottyk82 says...
mikey mike get aids already sheesh
StiC MaN says...
people still listen to someone's record regardless if they have the number 1 single. it all depends on the musician. on one hand you will have those who want to make music just to become famous and put out top 10 hits, while others do it for the love of music and more than happy to just get their music out there. i mean come on....are you telling me the only artists that are listened to are those who have a top 40 album? and where did i take a stab at electro and techno? i enjoy them both as well. now obviously trance isnt in your taste buds, and each to their own, but to call the entire genre and EVERY single track in it, cheesy, is ignorant.
Mikey-mike says...
Got off topic but....My original point being... Dont say Tiesto has turned cheese cos Trance was Cheese to begin with...
berserka says...
mikey-mike, have you ever heard of stock aitken and waterman? hint - they're not lawyers
Mikey-mike says...
What about them?
aysun says...
ohhh Tiesto... he was so good, such a Trance legend, and now he's resulting to this bull... i think he is having a mid-life crisis and i can see him retiring soon :( if only he got back to his old ways, the best muzik ever made was that of the early late 90's and early 2000's... hopefully he snaps out of it and produces trance once again. BUT calling him a twat and other names is just stupid.. he introduced AvB and Ferry to the world... :)
Gamboa says...
psy-trance?
ToMaZo says...
You know you're a trance addict when you see people referring to trance as "cheese" and you burn inside... If you're a DJ you're not a musician you're a disc jockey? wtf? You can't even begin to get your name out there particularly in trance unless you have quality productions under your belt. And its not about top 40.. all the top DJs don't do it to get on the charts, they do it so it continues to get their name out there so that they have a chance to showcase their skills live at events and clubs.. that's where popularity and money is truly made. I know a lot of people would agree that when a track turns "mainstream" and starts getting played on the radio as a top 40 track is when i stop listening to it because THAT's when it turns "cheese"! Lady GAGA... PFfffT!

tomazo your a smart man. mikey mike you dont know shit about trance, did you just google trance australia and copy/paste the names you found??? there are sooo many talented producers in trance right now. but yeah back on topic tiesto was great back in the day, but sadly he isnt doing trance anymore. imo he is doing all this commercial crap to get back to the number 1 spot. dont think it will work though. he has sold his soul to the devil in search of payrise....
