After sending chills down the spines of many a fan with the news that LCD Soundsystem had been put on the shelf for good, it would seem as though the futuristic-disco project from DFA label boss James Murphy is well and truly back in action. The hipster honcho has already committed to a slew of DJ dates over the Australian summer as LCD Soundsystem and has been dropping plenty of clues about his band’s next record, recently taking to Facebook to spill the beans on the album.

Writing whilst in the studio, Murphy revealed that he plans to have the next LCD Soundsystem record out “in March” next year. As good as that news is, Murphy also dropped the bombshell that there’ll be a new single before the end of 2009, something he and his rotating band have worked damn hard on.

“[There] should be a certain number of free downloads of the new single when it’s ready. I must say, though, that we’re trying to make the vinyl include a free download, so I recommend that. Mainly because we worked really hard on the art and the mastering, and we’re proud of it,” he wrote. “I’m honestly really excited.”

That excitement seems to be spilling off to fans who’ve responded to Murphy’s revelations with waves and waves of online love. The DFA dude didn’t stop there, explaining that the live incarnation of LCD Soundsystem would be hitting the road for shows anywhere and everywhere next year, with Murphy declaring they’ll play in ‘as many places as we can’.

Hopefully that means Murphy will be bringing the whole gang out here sometime. ITM’s got an interview with the man himself in the works, so we’ll be sure to press him for all the details!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
