British club stalwart Seb Fontaine collapsed from heatstroke in Singapore last weekend after reportedly clashing with the entourage of globe-trotting pop diva Beyonce.
The DJ, who hit Australia earlier this year, was in Singapore as a part of the Singapore Grand Prix Formula One festivities and apparently fell foul of Beyonce’s people when he tried to escape the Singaporean heat and enter the star’s palatial, air-conditioned dressing room.
Beyonce’s entourage refused to allow Fontaine to use her air-conditioning backstage at the party for the Grand Prix, shunting the DJ out into the heat. “We were told, ‘No they are Beyonce’s fans,’” the embattled Fontaine later told the UK’s Daily Star. “I wasn’t asking to play her drum kit on stage. I just wanted to keep cool.”
The nerve of that DJ, right Beyonce? Fontaine should’ve known that the Destiny’s Child diva wouldn’t compromise any of her space for a progressive house DJ. After all this is the same performer who apparently travels with a 139 page rider, listing requirements such as a personal fitness centre and six separate beauty chambers, which just sounds creepy.
Giggles aside, Fontaine’s heatstroke plight has taught us a valuable lesson. Please, give a DJ an air conditioner, a water bottle, or even one of those hats with the fans in them. Because DJs die in hot dressing rooms.
