Our jaws hit the floor back earlier this year when news trickled out that French robots in disguise, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (better known as Daft Punk of course), would be providing the soundtrack to the upcoming futuristic tech-epic Tron Legacy. Said jaws seemingly burrowed through to China when more news spilled forth, revealing that the duo’s film score for the Tron reboot would coincide with a live comeback, reuniting the robots with their fabled pyramid (or perhaps something even better this time ‘round!). Well, prepare to lose your face completely because word is out that Daft Punk will back up their official score with a cameo in Tron Legacy.
The news emerged overnight in an interview between US teen overlords MTV and Tron Legacy star Olivia Wilde, with the actor revealing that the duo have indeed suited up for feature roles in the film.
“They were in the movie,” Wilde said.
And, well, that’s all she really said. But it’s enough to get a thousand Daft Punk die-hards doing cartwheels in their mum’s kitchen.
Yet cleverly realising that people are probably more interested in Daft Punk’s involvement in the film rather than Tron Legacy itself (although it does “look pretty freaking amazing”:http://www.inthemix.com.au/news/intl/43644/First_images_from_the_Daft_Punkscored_âTron_Legacyâ, we must say), Wilde went on to drop hints about the live return of the duo, indicating that Daft Punk shows may indeed be rolled into Tron Legacy’s release promotion; “There’s some ideas in the works about how to incorporate them into a Comic-Con event.”
We’d stop drooling, but, uh, we don’t think we can.
