In a bitter twist of irony, news has emerged that dance music chameleon Richie Hawtin, an enduring icon of modern club culture if there ever was one, was this weekend denied entry to Berlin’s infamous Berghain nightclub.
Word of Hawtin’s clubbing shut-down came directly from the man himself, as Hawtin took to his Facebook page to vent about being denied entry to the crazily exclusive club. Refreshingly though, Hawtin didn’t seem to take offence at the blow to his celebrity, but rather at Berghain’s evidently overzealous door policy.
“U [sic] know what, BERGHEIM is a great club once you are inside, but why does the door policy have to be so fucking ridiculously hard,” Hawtin asked in the post. “Come on guys, you have a great club but don’t act so egotistically cool. We would all love to play and work with you, but you need a serious atitude [sic] adjustment!!! Good luck and remember those who have been supporting your scene before you even opened…....”
It’s a pretty insane scenario for Hawtin to be in, so hopefully his venting will shake up the exclusive Berlin club’s door restrictions. Or maybe it’s just a simple case of the bouncer just not liking the self-designed threads that Hawtin was wearing?
