Quickly becoming the inescapable trend in modern dance and club culture, the rap-meets-dance bubble continues to swell. Just this week we heard how Dim Mak maestro Steve Aoki had hooked up collaborations with Kid Cudi and will.i.am for his debut artist album and now news is out that another big name hip-hop and dance crossover is in the works. Yet this one is a little different as it’s a rap producer, crunk pioneer Lil Jon, reaching out to figures in the dance world.

Speaking to the crunkster himself this very morning (it was all kinds of bizarre), Lil Jon revealed his admiration for dance and electronic music, explaining that he’s so enamoured by club styles that he’s hooked up with the likes of David Guetta, Laidback Luke and just announced Good Vibrations visitor Chuckie for his long delayed album Crunk Rock.

Pitbull and me were the first guys over here to start rapping over dance beats and I’ve always loved dance music,” he stated in a tone sadly unlike any of those Chappelle’s Show sketches. “Dance music is really big in the clubs here because it’s the music you put on when you want to go crazy. The remix I did for David Guetta’s Sexy Bitch has been huge and I’ve got him on my album, I love him. I’ve got some Laidback Luke samples on the album too and some DJ Chuckie. It’s on fire.”

Known for having a wildly eclectic taste and an affection for dubstep, Lil Jon’s Crunk Rock guest stars seem oddly suitable, so it should be interesting to see what they all come up with.

Whilst we wait for the album to drop you can check out Lil Jon and Guetta’s previous collaboration on the Sexy Bitch remix below, and get your pimp goblets out for Lil Jon’s Australian tour alongside The Wu-Tang Clan next week!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
