Gerhardt (Jerry) Fuchs, drummer for the The Juan MacLean, Maserati and !!! has died after attempting to escape from a broken elevator.

Fuchs, 34, had been attending a benefit party for the Uniform Project, which raises money for education in India, at a former noodle factory now used as a residential loft space in Williamsburg.

According to eyewitnesses Fuchs “was trying to jump out of a broken elevator when a piece of his clothing caught on something. He then fell five stories, to the bottom of the shaft.”

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.
